MIDSUMMER POEM

Summer Anthems & Poetic Notes on August 20th at Miramonte

“MIDSUMMER POEM” is a musical homage to what is perhaps the most powerful time of year: midsummer. A time when the days feel endless, our Vitamin D levels are fully topped up, and nature abundantly gifts us with imagery, colors, scents, and rich sensory experiences. Stefanie Boltz and Martin Kursawe have immersed themselves in midsummer to celebrate its many vibrant faces together with us.

Roy Ayers grooves “Everybody loves the sunshine,” Mancini’s “Slow Hot Wind,” the “Summer Breeze,” and every manifestation of a “Heat Wave” sweep us into a heightened physical and emotional state. It is midsummer. What’s more, this season grants us full permission to spend time as a pure luxury—to simply “waste time,” just as Otis Redding sang on his legendary “(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay.”

Yet, this intense time of year can also bring a touch of “Summertime Sadness.” When the external brilliance feels overwhelming, or the sultry heat presses inward, the sudden fall of “Summer Rain” brings sweet relief.

With “Midsummer Poem,” Stefanie Boltz invites us to consciously savor timeless summer anthems and quiet musical gems. She enriches the evening with selected midsummer poetry as well as her own original compositions dedicated to the spirit of this season. “Midsummer Poem” is thoughtfully arranged summer music about nature, love, and the dance of the sun, moon, and stars. Together, we watch this warm, blissful tide float by, wishing this regal time would never end—a promise that holds true for at least one magical evening.
