Carriage ride
Winter magic on runners
When the snow makes the valley silent and the clouds of breath from the horses dance in the clear winter air, the carriage becomes a sleigh. The horses glide at a brisk pace over the snow-covered hills and fields, while the gentle tinkling of the bells sets the pace. Whether as a couple, with family or friends - a sleigh ride through Gastein is pure magic and shows nature at its most beautiful in winter.
Krampus
The Gastein Krampus Passes
05.12.2024 - 06.12.2024On December 5 and 6, things get wild and traditional in the Gastein Valley: the Gastein Krampuspassen parade through Bad Gastein, Bad Hofgastein and Dorfgastein. Almost 100 passers-by - including St. Nicholas, Krampus, basket bearers and angels - are on their way to go from house to house. A custom that is still celebrated here in its original form and without violence - genuine, unadulterated and simply a highlight of the pre-Christmas period.
