“You arrive and feel at home”

"Bad Gastein is the place I always come back to with my family,to relax and do sports. I could hardly imagine a better one. But that actually applies to the entire Gastein Valley. What sets this area apart from the many others in the Alps is its incredible diversity.

You can have a bit of everything. The spectrum ranges from real competitive sports and goes through wellness sports to relaxed hiking for people who perhaps move very little in everyday life.
Even when I first came here I thought to myself, 'You've got to have a speed trail run here that goes past the wonderful old hotel boxes and the waterfall.' Surely this is unique! You won't find anything like it in Saalbach, Lech am Arlberg or anywhere else.' This idea really grabbed me and we then actually realized this run with a good 600 participants.
What I particularly love is the lift ride up the Graukogel. It's not a super-modern transport gondola, but a wonderful slow, quiet two-seater chair lift. The ride alone represents a deceleration and a reciprocal to mass ski tourism. I recommend to ride to the middle station and then continue hiking. But this is only one recommendation of many. It is best to stick to the people who know their way around here. The possibility to make excursions here seems inexhaustible. Sportgastein is also such a favorite for me.
As a reward, in the evening after a hike, even if you are actually already wonderfully rewarded with the experience, I recommend a meadow herb gin at the bar of the Hotel Mira- monte. Or a glass of wine on the recommendation of the landlord Ike Ikrath, who has really created something very special here with his wife Evelyn. As soon as you enter the hotel, you experience so many positive vibes. There's this very special warmth that emanates from the interior architecture and design. You could almost talk about an extended living room. But not only that. It seems as if the entire staff carries this warmth. You arrive and feel at home.
Whether the Gastein Valley is more charming in winter or summer? To that I can only say that it is simply super here at any time of year."
